About the event
Greetings to Former Members, Family Members, and Friends,
We are pleased to invite you to our 138th Homecoming Celebration on Sunday, August 11th, starting at 10:00 AM. This will be a day of honoring our past, celebrating our present, and looking forward to our future as a church family.
The celebration will commence with singing by the congregation followed by a thought-provoking Sunday school lesson by our Adult teacher Mr. Larry Justice. We do have classes for young people as well.
We will have worship at 11:00 AM with Rev. Clark Henderson as our guest speaker. Rev. Henderson is the former pastor of Newbridge Baptist Church and a respected leader in our community. He will deliver a message of encouragement and challenge for us as we continue to serve God and our community.
Following the morning service, we will partake in a delicious lunch in the fellowship hall. The church will provide the meats and drinks, and we request you to bring a covered dish and dessert to contribute. This will be a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and share stories and memories of our church.
As part of our homecoming celebration, we will have a display of our church history in the sanctuary. We have discovered that so many of the families in our community made up the membership of this church dating all the way back to 1886, when the church was located below the Ox Creek Road and was part of the local school and post office. You may find your ancestors' names among the list of Andersons, Ballards, Banks, Bartletts, Bradleys, Bruces, Brysons, Buckners, Coles, Cooks, Elliotts, Griffins, Hensleys, Hendersons, Hollifields, Honeycutts, Hyatts, Hyders, Joneses, Justices, McDaris, McKins, Parkers, Penlands, Phillips, Sheehans, Smiths, Wallings, and many others. We hope you will come and see the rich heritage that we have as a church and how God has been faithful to us throughout the generations. Any photos you have to share will be appreciated as well.
Please RSVP by August 5th if you intend to attend and indicate what covered dish or dessert you would like to bring. You can RSVP by calling or texting Pastor David Jones at 828-713-4619 or emailing him at jonesbones3@gmail.com.
